Columbus Talent Donates Time for Annual Charity Golf Classic


Columbus, OH (May 4, 2015) – The stars will be out Monday, July 13 for the 6th Annual Wesley Glen/Wesley Ridge Charity Golf Classic hosted by The Wesley Communities.

PGA Senior Tour player, Rod Spittle, will be located at Hole 15 where players will be able to purchase a golf ball and have Mr. Spittle hit for their shot. Columbus’ own Channel 6 news personality, Bill Kelly, will be Master of Ceremonies and will be broadcasting live from the event at 5 and 6 pm.  Professional auctioneer, Mike Albert, will once again be the auctioneer for the silent and live auctions.

Title Sponsors for the event are Corna Kokosing Construction Company and FirstMerit Bank. Proceeds benefit Hospice Services at Methodist ElderCare and Wesley At Home.

The event begins with player registration at 8 a.m. and a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The event is not limited to golfers. Following the outing, guests and players will have a chance to mix and mingle as the event concludes with awards, dinner and live and silent auctions.

•  $1,000 per foursome (includes 18 holes of golf, beverages, lunch, dinner and auction)
•  $75 per person to attend only the dinner and auction
•  The Charity Golf Classic is limited to 30 teams
•  Deadline to register is Friday, July 3, 2015

Wesley Glen and Wesley Ridge to Participate in The Big Give


Columbus, OH (April 27, 2015) – Wesley Glen and Wesley Ridge announced their participation in The Big Give, a 24-hour online giving event that kicks off 10 am EST on Tuesday, May 12, benefiting local nonprofits.

Created in 2011 by The Columbus Foundation, The Big Give is a periodic, massive rally for the nonprofits in the Columbus-area encouraging people to show their community spirit and donate to one or more of their favorite local nonprofits in PowerPhilanthropy,® the Foundation’s online giving marketplace. The Foundation is offering the largest bonus pool ever—$1.3 million provided by Foundation donors and community partners.
 
“The Big Give is a great way for the Wesley Glen and Wesley Ridge communities to come together and support the mission, show our spirit and demonstrate how big-hearted central Ohio is,” said Dinah Cason, Executive Director of Development at Wesley Glen and Wesley Ridge.

All donations during the 24-hour period will receive a pro rata portion of the bonus pool. For example, if there is a bonus pool of $1,000,000 and total donations of $4,000,000, then 25 cents will be added to every dollar donated.

June and Dave Harcum announced as Benefactors of New Wesley Ridge Fitness Center


Columbus, OH (April 15, 2015) – The Wesley Communities (MES) has announced the launch of an $800,000 capital campaign to raise funds for the new Harcum Fitness and Aquatic Center at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community. Lead donors June and Dave Harcum secured naming rights with their generous gift of $500,000.

Plans are being finalized for the $3.5 million project which will include a fitness center, a community space, a gym, a pool, an exercise studio and a cafe. A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for June 2015, with construction to begin late summer 2015.

“Senior living at its best includes all aspects of wellness,” commented Margaret R. Carmany, CEO. “Our ultimate goal for the Harcum Fitness and Aquatic Center is to provide a place for residents, staff and the community to increase their quality of life.”

The Wesley Communities Planning Stages Future Retirement Community in New Albany, Ohio


(New Albany, Ohio)  In February 2015, the Board of Trustee for The Wesley Communities approved plans for a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) on East Dublin Granville Road and Hamilton Road in New Albany, Ohio.  The new development, Wesley Woods, will offer detached villa-style cottages with attached two-car garages and retirement living apartments on 37.8 acres alongside a nature preserve. The community will provide full health services as health needs change.

The anticipated ground breaking on the project will be in the summer of 2015. The Wesley Communities’ CEO, Margaret R. 6th Annual Wesley Glen/Wesley Ridge Charity Golf Classic Tees Off July 13

Columbus, OH (March 10, 2015) – The Wesley Communities (MES) will host its 6th Annual Wesley Glen/Wesley Ridge Charity Golf Classic on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Pinnacle Golf Club, 1500 Pinnacle Club Drive, Grove City, OH 43123.

Proceeds from the event will once again benefit Hospice Services at Methodist ElderCare and Wesley At Home. PGA Senior Tour player, Rod Spittle will again be in attendance. Last year players were able to purchase a golf ball and have Mr. Spittle hit for their shot.

Wesley Glen Retirement Community launches new Parkinson's Disease fitness program featuring OhioHealth Delay the Disease -- the nation's leading Parkinson’s Disease exercise program.

Columbus, Ohio.  Wesley Glen Retirement Community offers a new, life-changing fitness and mobility program expressly designed for people with Parkinson’s Disease. Led by a certified OhioHealth Delay the Disease instructor, the program improves the physical, mental and emotional realities of Parkinson’s Disease patients.

Wesley Ridge Retirement Community plans to open a Wellness Center

Preliminary plans are being formulated for a Wellness Center at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community, including a fitness center, a community room, a lap pool, and juice bar.   The anticipated ground breaking on the project will be in the summer of 2015.
 
Wesley Ridge’s sister facility, Wesley Glen, opened its Wellness Center in March of 2012.   Per Margaret R. Carmany, CEO,  “Senior living at its best includes all aspects of wellness.  The Wellness Center at Wesley Glen has been enjoyed by residents, staff, and the community at large.  We anticipate the same excellent results at Wesley Ridge. We are thrilled at receiving board approval to move forward on this project.”
