Worthingway Middle School & Wesley Glen Information Exchange

Worthingway Middle School students in Worthington, Ohio gathered this week at Wesley Glen Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio to present the final assignment on the environment of a local retirement community. Over twenty-five 8th grade students and teachers interviewed over 55 residents between the ages of 70 to 80 years to illustrate a digitized photo display of the lives of retirees. The cooperation of Nathan Kellenberger, Principal of Worthingway Middle School and Peg Carmany, CEO of Wesley Glen Retirement Community encourages the development of initiatives like these which provide real-time applications of classroom content among numerous adults in the community.  Two displays will be presented to Wesley Glen residents and to Worthingway Middle School community of students, teachers and parents.  This information exchange not only provides a unique learning experience for the students but engagement with seniors in the community using current digital technology.

Mr. Kellenberger states “This is an excellent opportunity for Worthingway to partner with our community.  Student understanding and knowledge is made so much stronger when students have opportunities to take part in real world applications of their learning.  We truly appreciate the willingness of the Wesley Glen residents to meet with us and the leadership of Lester Jipp, a resident at Wesley Glen Retirement Community.”
