A tradition of excellence is very important when considering a retirement community. Wesley Glen is celebrating 40 years of serving the Central Ohio community with a stated mission of providing quality housing, health care and services to older adults in Central Ohio. As new affiliates have been added over the years, the Board of Trustees of the not-for-profit The Wesley Communities and the staff at all locations still follow this mission statement.
The Wesley Communities has also received an EAGLE accreditation from the United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries. Residents and their families can feel confident in Wesley Glen’s and Wesley Ridge’s quality, because The Wesley Communities has volunteered to undergo a rigorous process to measure its quality and integrity. This accreditation is widely regarded as a “seal of approval.”
Another test of quality is the yearly evaluation of each retirement community by the Ohio Department of Health. It is the only source of information from a trained team of objective surveyors who investigate quality of care, inspect medical records, and talk with residents. A “nearly perfect” survey in the Health Center at Wesley Glen in 2009 indicates that Wesley Glen has a genuine interest in self-evaluation, a drive for improvement, and an assurance of quality and integrity. The Assisted Living and Special Care areas at both Wesley Glen and Wesley Ridge have received the rating of “zero deficiencies” in 2009, which is the highest rating possible.
The Health Center at Wesley Glen is also rated on a national level by the Five-Star Quality Rating System developed by Medicare and just received a rating that places the Health Center in the top 1%. These results can be seen by going to www.medicare.gov. This rating system was created to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing facilities. The ratings are taken from health inspections, staffing levels, and quality measures. This information gives you a “snap shot” of the care provided.
