LPN / Licensed Practical Nurse

Full-time 6:45pm – 7:15am


Job Description

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible to work in accordance with established policies and procedures and specific instructions from the Unit Manager.  Provide quality nursing care to residents to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for an assigned group of Health Center residents; implement specific procedures and programs; coordinate work within the department, as well as work with other departments;  report pertinent information to the Unit Manager, respond to inquires or requests for information;  assist the Unit Manager with tasks to support department operations;  assigns, delegates and supervises resident care tasks as appropriate;  documents care to meet institution, state, and federal requirements.   

Additional responsibilities of the Licensed Practical Nurse include:

  • Administering prescribed medications or start intravenous fluids, noting times and amounts on patients' charts
  • Observing patients, charting and reporting changes in patients' conditions, such as adverse reactions to medication or treatment, and taking any necessary action
  • Providing basic patient care or treatments, such as taking temperatures or blood pressures, dressing wounds, treating bedsores, giving enemas or douches, rubbing with alcohol, massaging, inserting catheters
  • Answering patients' calls and determine how to assist them
  • Performing delegated LPN functions from DON/ADON/Unit Manager
  • Supervising STNA's and caregivers on clock to ensure proper patient care
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

To qualify for the Licensed Practical Nurse, you must have experience working with and a passion for working with the elderly in a long term healthcare environment; providing a high quality of customer service. 

Additional requirements of the Licensed Practical Nurse include:

·         Current LPN License in Ohio

  • Ability to delegate and supervise effectively and appropriately, taking initiative without direct supervision
  • Reading, writing, grammar and mathematics skills
  • Auditory and visual skills
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach and lift items
  • Must have acceptable personal hygiene and adherence to uniform and dress codes
